Why a Blue page? Often quoted as top of peoples favourite colour list, blue has a universal appeal. It is associated with tranquility, serenity and calmness. Thought to be good for general health and healing. For us it's melancholy reputation is over done.
Yet it also creates dynamism and contrast in many images, a wonderful way to guide the eye. It can create great atmosphere from bright openness to a ghostly ethereal feel.
There are very few blue pigments in nature, hence when it appears it really stands out. More often than not the blue we see in nature is through clever use of the laws of light, rather than from pigments.
Blue is so flexible it can help turn any image into a thing of beauty or mystery. That is why it deserves a page of its own!

Although very welcome there is a wide misconception that the more blue the better. But we are not looking for just total blue and certainly maxing out the blue saturation slider is not what we like to see.
We are still looking for creative, interesting images, but where blue forms a key part, which isn't always achieved by being the dominant colour by volume.
The inclusion of a small amount of blue can create a fantastic contrast, which can make that small blue area the photo focal point, or it brings out and heightens other colours, such as Yellow and Orange.
By all means submit us images where blue turns out to be the highest content by volume, but our page can be like a daily challenge, go out with deliberate intent and create something special with blue in mind. It will help you improve your photography over all.

Use of the sky and sea, contrasted with other elements. A blue sky on its own isn't that creative.
Additional blue tones added in editing. Can create a spectacular ethereal effect, especially in night time images.
It doesn't have to be a pure photo. Mixed media or a digitised painting using blue creatively are equally welcome posts.

What is REFLECTION? REFLECTION PHOTOGRAPHY is also known as MIRROR PHOTOGRAPHY. Its basic premise is capturing an image that ALSO has the reflective surface in the photo that is echoing the surrounding scenery. Reflection photos refer to any shot, no matter what type of photography genre, that uses a REFLECTIVE SURFACE TO DUPLICATE THE Image INSIDE THE PHOTO.
In a Reflection photo, we see the full image such as a street view of the city skyline. Inside that photo will be a puddle showing the reflection of the of the city skyline for example.

Standard photography will strive to make the objects and subjects in their artworks as recognisable and clear as possible. Abstract on the other hand, doesn’t aim to represent reality in a literal sense. Abstract is all about playing with visual elements so the images created express ideas and emotions that may not be immediately recognisable.
The Snap_Abstract page is a home for such images. Whether this is your first time experimentation or you are an established abstract artist, the Snap_Abstract page is a place where you can showcase your images. We welcome you to and look for inspirations, ideas and connections with other artists.

Techniques such as collage can be a grey area as snippets of other imagery are incorporated. We will take a view if any aspect of collage contains a dominant image without any accreditation, or any aspect that shows copyrighted material, such as commercial logos etc.
We do accept AI imagery, on the basis of full compliance of the Snap AI policy. In other words clear ID as AI in caption and AI Hashtags.
AI can be a tool for expressing creative thoughts and emotions. AI can be a legitimate tool in abstract works. However AI in itself is not abstract. The creative imagination process must be clearly evident. Hyper realism is not the aim and does not constitute quality AI work in this context.
